What we've been up to

Well the terrible 2's came early this year. Gabe went to bed one night and woke up being a completely different little boy. Old Gabe we want you back, we need you back!

I think part of the problem, if not the entirety, is that the shipping company lost the screws to both Gabe and Laine's beds {Thanks once again A-1 Pioneer!} . For this reason, Gabe has still been sleeping in his pack and play and learned out how to climb out of it this week. Yay, a 1 1/2 year old who won't nap anymore! We just can't thank you enough A1P!

It's also really awesome when you run the dishwasher, open it and start unloading, then then look, and what do you see? What the? The remote control?

I also really love it when, at church, you discover that your baby's diaper was only covering half his butt. I won't elaborate on the horrific events of the discovery or the clean-up, but it was bad and we ended up having to leave.

To top the day off yesterday, I completely racked my whole body on the tub. I was washing Laine's hair when I simultaneously lost both my focus and my footing. My head ended up in the water, the upper half of my body slamming against the inside of the tub, my midsection and pelvis hitting the top of the tub {an immediate bruise forming} and my legs and feet hitting the outside of the tub with brute force. I would have been laughing and crying at the same time, but I had just gotten the wind knocked out of me like I have never experience before. It kind of reminded me of the time I just fell out of the tub shower for no reason. I was washing my own hair that time and just completely fell through the plastic shower curtain right smack on to the floor. I still to this day have no explanation for how a grown woman falls out of a bathtub. As for yesterday's fall, I blame Gabe and his splashing.

As far as Laine goes, I am just trying to get a word in edgewise between her constant stories of Spaceships / Outer Space and now superheros {and asking for treats}. She is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo into talking right now. We've had to add in a talking segment into her bedtime routine. We now read two books then sing Twinkle Twinkle. Then we turn off the lights and say prayer and then have our talking segment. I really needed a break from "Mom can you talk to me about school and the spaceship?" so I decided to tell her about our days together when she was a little baby. I guess I made it sound really great, what with all of the walks together and the snuggling and kissing and falling asleep together. Now she will not stop asking to be changed back to a baby. The fact that it is not possible is not any kind of answer to her request. Today she asked me to find my magic wand and make it happen.

We're laughing {and limping} about it all today. Ahh...kids!

Natalie where do you come up with all of your hilarious stories!! I need you to be my neighbor. You are pure fun and entertainment. Falling in the bathtub is the worst. I haven't fallen like you, but come pretty close. 2 year olds are so hard yet such joy, not sure how that happens but it does get better...just to mouthy after that. Cute that Laine likes a talking segment. The question is are you truly listening or are you thinking of what you are going to cook for dinner tomorrow :) Gotta love kids!

I love that you can just be so candid about your life! I look forward to reading your blog each week it puts a smile on my face. I can relate to some of your stories and it tends to bring back those memories and now I had wished I wrote them down. So you will be my inspiration to write it out and just be honest!

Gabe reminds me of Hayden when she was about that age. Perfect, happy, easy baby turns into tired, cranky, unhappy baby. She learned to climb out the crib about then and she has never been the same again because she is so tired all of the time.

I also relate with Laine and her constant talking. Hallie was so much that way at that age. I remember asking her to just be quiet for 5 minutes so that I could think. She would talk so much that I couldn't focus on what I was trying to do. That is hilarious that she is still talking about space, what a funny girl.

Hope you feel better soon, sounds like quite a tumbling act.

Ah the spaceships. It will never get old to me... or apparently her. I just loved hearing her talk all about the spacesuit (aka tracksuit) that Daddy brought back for her. Such a funny little thing.

And poor Gabe. If you need some rest from him, just send him on the airplane to Chicago and I will take him on for a few months. I will need the company.

You seriously could be a stand-up comedian! I love reading your blog! If we get a chance to go to Australia before you move we will have to get together! The same goes if you ever get back to Taiwan before we move!

Nat just picturing you falling with your head in the water, I couldn't help but start laughing hysterically!! That must have hurt so bad! Carter asks us all the time to talk about when he was a little baby. It gets hard to think of something new...you ate...you slept...you pooped. That's it. He loves it though. Laine is so funny. What girl loves space ships?! I love your blog!!

I think that the Gildea Girls should take their commedy act on the road! I swear you all have the funniest way of telling stories, it keeps life interesting.:) I'm sorry about your fall, and your frustrating Sunday. Before you know it Gabe will be passing the sacrament (like Ross) and you will be wondering where your active baby boy went (like me). These years don't last very long, I realize it feels like they last forever, but as long as you can smile and laugh about all the mishaps you're doing well. And I LOVE that Laine likes spaceships, what a cutie!

Ok, this is hilarious! Yes I am yelling it at you. I think it made it even funnier because I am currently on a lot of loratab! Anyways, I am so sad to hear that Gabey is changing, I want him to stay my little boy! And get working on that magic wand won't you?

Loved all the stories about you and the kids...sorry you are so bruised up from it all. Can you get some other screws for the crib? You are in for it now with him able to get out of bed on his own! Its amazing that Laine is still into the spaceships...she is so funny (wonder where she gets it from)! You always had such an imagination!!!

Natalie I'm so sorry that you crashed and burned into the tub. You really have a thing for crazy accidents! Oh and it looks like you guys had a great time in the city.

I'm impressed that Laine hasn't given up on the space chat yet. Way to stick with something, girl :).

I hope your bangs and bruises are healing quickly! Being human, I laughed briefly at the visual - but quickly felt your pain, Nat. Are you all right?!

Maya always asks me if after she turns 4 if she can be 1 again. She also asks me if next time she is a baby she can be in my tummy.."Mom, next time can I be in your tummy?..."
