Hot Potato Hot Patato, Cold Spaghetti Cold Spaghetti...

Okay, I know it's been a rough few weeks and I often wonder what I am doing here. I have to see kangaroos at a zoo just like we did at home. I have to deal with all of this crazy moving stuff and anti-American sentiments, I miss my friends an family. But then again, there are these little gems to look forward to that I can partake of in Australia. No, I am not even talking about doing a Tim Tam Slam, drinking Milo, or eating Meat or Gravy flavored potato chips. I'm talking about SEEING The Wiggles LIVE!

For some of you this would not be a plus, it would no doubt be a major con. You might even rather stick your finger in your eye than go. But for us it was an exilerating family event that we have been looking forward to for weeks. That's right, we have seen the wiggles in person. We danced and sang along to the songs, we even dressed like them. The lighting is no good, but here we are awaiting the start of the show as Jeff, Murray, Anthony, and Sam / Greg. We miss you Greg! You'll always be a Wiggle to us!

Okay, yeah, we are pretty much major nerds. Sometimes I get these ideas that seem great at the time. I think to myself, I am not really a member of society here so I don't care what anybody thinks, yes, I think I'll have us dress up as each member of the Wiggles. Then you get there, and everyone is dressed normal, and you kind of realize you DO actually care. Poor Ben, why did you ever go along with my stupid plan? Some one even asked him if he was a Wiggle! No lie!

The concert was great and the kids had a magical time. It was held at such a small venue. I could literally almost see Anthony's glowing white teeth and the scars from his nose job. It was, I mean, ah, amazing. It really was fun to do something to get your kids all excited about. We were watching a lot of the show on tv in the previous days, you know, trying to practice and get ready so we were sure we knew all of the songs. Two days in a row Laine said, "I just love the Wiggles..." It was hilarious.

Here we are after the show outside the Hornsby RSL club. We were ever changed from this moment, we will never be the same again.

We chased the concert down with an hour of driving around looking for a Hungry Jacks to eat at.

Look familiar? Yeah, it's the same. We got Whopper value meals which tasted just like the one's at home. Yup, they made me just as sick as at home, and I regretted eating it just like at home too.

It was a great day. I had a really fun day visiting a new friend in Double Bay yesterday, which I now realize is the Beverly Hills of Australia. There I was driving myself there, passing and waving to the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bay Bridge on the way. It was amazing. Sometimes it really is so cool to live here. No, I'm not manic as you may be thinking from the complete change in temperature from some previous posts. It is just that there are really high high's and really low low's. 3 cheers for it leveling off poste-haste!

Too funny. I did not know you were that into the wiggles. Sounds like a fun family activity. Ben you are a sport! How does Nat talk you into these things?? Can't wait to hear Laine sing some songs from the show!

I love that you dressed up, so classic. I have been meaning to comment on your other post about struggling living there. Nat, I so feel for you. Living in England was so hard for me. Whenever people ask me if I liked it, I always have to stop and think what answer they WANT me to say. It is hard when you feel like you can't be totally yourself around anyone. They don't get the humor, you don't get theirs and if you do it's not that funny, and they totally rip on Americans!! So annoying. I just felt like everyone was just really uptight and never got excited about anything. Is it that way there too? I'm sorry that you are homesick, that is one of the worst feelings ever. You are awesome and I'm sure the wiggles have helped you to get over the hump right? :) Hang in there, it does get better. I started enjoying it after about 6 months, I think it takes that long anywhere you live to really get to know people. Sorry about the novel I can just really relate. Chin up ol' girl!

That is so funny. Luckily Hallie has always felt that the Wiggles were uncool, so I haven't had to endure them. But to each their own because I think Hannah Montana might be worse. Glad that you had a good time!

I am cracking up at the picture of you guys in your colored shirts. Doc and my little one are going to the Wiggles tomorrow to the Enmore Theatre to see them-- I think it's another small venue.
Yeah, my husband described Double Bay as the Beverly Hills of Australia before I moved here.. I'd have to agree. Poor us, living it up in Sydney 90210.. rough life, right?

I love that someone asked Ben if he was a Wiggle! He is such a good sport! There is no way I could get John to dress up like that, way to go!

Even better than I could have imagined! This is hilarious! I just wish I could have been there. And good job on the dress up, that's what I like to see!

What happened to Greg from the wiggles? Did he die? Curious. What a fun family event. I bet I could go tomorrow and sing all the songs by heart. Love that you dressed up, it doesn't look weird to me. I wouldn't have guessed unless you told me. You are so funny by the way!

Hey Natalie! Wow...the Wiggles! My mother-in-law would be so jealous! You are such a strong person and an inspiration! I think it's amazing that you have had so many incredible experiences (even the wiggles :) Hang in there and enjoy the ride! Miss you!

I can see Ben as a Wiggle. I hope Ben told her he was and signed her program. He could fill out an application and keep it on file. I would think the burnout, or suicide rate for the members of the wiggles would be through the roof. Should be frequent openings.

But seriously I hope the kids had a great time. I would think it is one of the things that kids enjoy, and parents endure. Dad

Christian and Maya will die when I show them this. They will be in awe. The Wiggles were such a part of our lives for so many years :)

Nat, I can totally relate. Aniston and I talked DAILY about going to Thomas the Train for literally 2 months. I can totally see Ben being mistaken for a Wiggle! I could almost be mistaken for the Thomas conductor when George Carlin played him, but I don't really do the pony.

Wow, I'm impressed that:

a) you endured a Wiggles concert. (I can barely handle the songs/music over and over and over and over and over ad nauseum)

and

b) the Wiggles actually played in a small venue like the Hornsby RSL. That's more Hooley Dooleys speed. (if you don't know who THEY are, count yourself very lucky! *g*) I thought the Wiggles were all about big stadiums and such. Certainly that's why they don't tour where I live, instead sending "Dorothy's Dance Party". We went to that last year. It was OK.

Sad to say that HJ's is probably the best fast-food burgers in Oz. hehe

Fun that you got to see the Wiggles! I used to hate the wiggles before I had kids, now I seem to like them. :)
