Witches Festival at Gardner Village

Yesterday I loaded up the kids to show up 40 minutes late to playgroup. Sounds about like normal. It was one of those mornings. Gabe woke up with a unreal blowout and I won't go into much detail about the cleanup of that horrendous mess. Laine was being sassy, but she was very excited to go "to a Halloween place, to see Halloween stuff" so she did try to cooperate somewhat.

I got the kids loaded up and then I couldn't get the stroller to fold down. I tried everything! I even tried force so strong I thought I would break it, which by that point I didn't care one lick about actually doing so. The thought of schlepping my heavy boy all around Gardner Village sans the stroller was enough to balk at the money it would cost to replace it! I tried to load it in without folding it, and that was a no-go as well. I am sure my neighbors had quite an enjoyable time watching my frustration and hearing me ordering my kids to hurry, be nice, and just plain quit talking as I tried in vain to get us out the door.

Once we got there we had a great time. It was fun to spoil the kids for a day. We went to the candy store and bakery for some goodies, and had a great time with our friends. We got to go see Daddy at work after, and bring him a treat. It was a really fun day!
I asked Laine if she thought the witches were scary and she said, "no, they are very pretty!"
(Thanks again Tammy for letting us borrow your stroller!)
Lunch was the best part as the kids decided to entertain themselves. Laine and Caden quite enjoyed circling around and around and around.

Hey topgun! I couldn't find my shades and had to borrow Ben's. I look ridiculous!

My friend Tammy playing with Gabe

I guess this witch wasn't scary either. When we got to Ben's office, our friend Jason Norton asked Laine who was prettier, the witches, or Mommy. Everyone had a good laugh when she chose the witches. I suppose I will try to grow some warts for her and make my face green if that's what she wants to wake up and see every morning.

Always an adventure in the life of Natalie! Glad you were able to make it even late! The pictures made me miss Utah and all the fun stuff going on there. Looks like you all had fun!

I love Gardner village! I am too selfish to take my kids there, but it looks like they had a fun time. Maybe you should be a witch for Halloween and make Laine happy. haha

Such a fun day...once you got there! I've had one of those mornings today that you had yesterday. I've cleaned up throw up (she was crying so hard she threw up), I accidentally dropped the tupperware of cous cous and it has got to be one of the hardest things to clean up. They just smear everywhere......oooh, the drama. ANYWAY, I haven't EVER been to Gardner village - can you believe that? It is a must see, from what I hear. We've tried to go the past few Sat's but it's been cold/rainy. So, we're going to try again for this Sat. Is there anything you recommend we see? Fav stores? Good restaurants or not so much? Wondering if I should try to couple the outing w/ eating dinner there. You'll have to let me know what you know! :)

Oh I have had those days. Later as we are driving in the car and I have calmed down, I am wishing and hoping that no one has heard me talking to my kids through gritted teeth "please stop talking for one minute while I try and figure this out."
My favorite is when I tell the kids to go get in the car, usually at this point I am trying to throw on clothes or get Jaxton into his car seat, and Hayden does get in the car, but gets in my seat and LAYS on the horn over and over again. So I have to go running into the garage, usually half dressed, and stop her from honking the horn, so that our neighbors do not think there is some sort of emergency happening in our house. Oh the joys of taking 4 kids places!

Jason Norton went to highschool with me???????? It's the same person right? Weird. Your good to venture out with your kids. Most of the time I tell my kids we have to wait for daddy because I don't want to do it alone!

Natalie,
We are selling our home and I used your website as a template for ideas. Hope you don't mind. Thanks!

WE've been to Gardner Village three times in the past month. Isn't it great? The kids love it and I love it. If only I could actually enjoy the stores there. There's no way I can take 3 in any of them. Too much of a risk! Cute kids! Any luck on your house?

Me again..
That is SOO sad that you don't get a ward party! You could of happily joined ours!
I can't wait to get together before you leave this blessed state. FYI..I am making the pork chops and sugar cookies this week! YUMMY!
I hope the house thing gets better for you...I will cross my fingers! Yes, that is our home. We had HUGE connections with both of our parents plus we built it ourselves (literally...our own two hands!) It was 18 mo. of H-E-double hockey sticks! It was a huge investment that we hope will help us out TONS financially when we sell it (Hmm..to pay off some student loans??) That is why I secretly hope that Rob doesn't want to transfer law schools...that would mean moving into a lovely apartment...YUCKY!

Sounds about right! I swear you just described my life, every time I have to get somewhere. It always seems like all hell breaks loose. I guess thats where patients comes in. I'm still working on that.

I can't get over how cute your kids are. We haven't made it down to Gardner Village to see the witches this year, which is a bummer. Cute pics!
