She did it again!

I guess she really is a trouble-maker now. I was sitting right here trying to get stuff done when she did this. She was literally 8 feet away from me, but I was busy trying to get stuff done. Notice her beautiful fingers. Yes, this is ultra-permanent, professional marker. How we have managed to not get it on carpet, the walls, or the couch defies logic and mystifies my mind.

Last night we went to the grocery store and I was on the phone with Ben. I got Laine out of her seat, put her down and told her to stay there while I ran around to the other side to get Gabe. When I got Gabe and came back around for her, she had completely vanished. I begin to panic, and then there is Ben hearing every word over the phone as I am shouting for her in the parking lot, my voice trembling, "Laine, Laine, where did she go, Oh my gosh, where is she!?" Followed by, "Uh, I'll have to call you back, click".

So there I am searching everywhere, shouting, wondering how the heck I could lose her so fast. Usually she is GLUED to my legs and I practically trip over her {and actually do trip over her quite frequently, it is not just me either I've seen just about everyone trip over her. How do kids have such a knack for standing exactly where you need to be?}

Anyway, I found it so NOT normal that she would leave my sight, it is just not her. So then my thoughts turn to possible kidnappers. Just then, someone shouted from inside the store that she is there. I run to her, and she is crying hysterically. I guess what had happened was that there was another blonde woman with similar hair and almost the exact same coat that came running by and Laine thought it was me and ran after her, following her into the store. When she found out her folly she went Apey. We all had a good laugh after I called Ben back and let him know it was all okay.

This whole post sounds so familiar. I can see Ayden doing those same things. I bet it was pretty scary loosing her like that. I am glad it all turned out okay.

I hate that feeling when you lose your child. It's happened a couple times to me too, it is THE worst! Laine should definitely grow up to work in the beauty industry! She'd make a great hairstylist or make-up artist!

just so you know...i find great comic relief when I read your blog. it always seems to brighten my day and let me know that i am normal and i just need a good laugh (at your expense unfortunately). I know the marker thing is BOUND to happen with Bobby. He is a born artist and can't get his hands off of markers, pens, crayons... I don't know where he finds them, but he does and he is covered all over his hands and feet!

Look at what a neat job she did at coloring her fingernails. Very precise!At least she didn't get the carpet or the walls. When Hayden colors all over everything, which is quite frequently, she gets the walls, the piano, the couch, the carpet, herself. That is so scarry that you lost her, nothing is worse. Glad that all worked out!

Oh my gosh, she looks like she was attacked by a hatchet in some scary movie! Those feet. I guess its tights weather so that is good. The fingernails do look pretty good though. I am glad your story of losing her had a happy ending and that she did not get run over on her way into the store!

Oh Natalie. You need to go to the spa for a day. I am sure you are stressed beyond belief trying to get ready to move and it being Christmas and your husband gone! I am sorry. I love your story telling! I need a good Candy and Christmas cookie recipe for a Candy Exchange next week. Post one on your blog if you come up with a good one.

OK so not to rub it in or anything, but I'm relieved to know that Josh isn't the only trouble maker in the family :)

Hayden is obsessed with this picture of Laine. Everytime I visit your blog, she says "uh oh" and won't let me leave the page. It is funny that she knows that it is naughty for Laine to draw on herself but she frequently draws all over herself.
